The Texas roadblock to gay marriage

THE WAVE of same-sex marriage equality sweeping the country has been remarkable, not just for its fast pace and national scope, but also because it has produced a fairly muted backlash. Texas’s leaders seem determined to change that, even if it means using faulty legal reasoning to fight a battle they are certain to lose. This cannot become a model for other states.
