Where will the Two Witnesses Come From?

By Irvin Baxter

QuestionTerry from Texas called to ask Irvin: Do you know where the two witnesses are going to come from?

AnswerThe Bible does not say where the two witnesses are from. They will die & they will die in the streets of Jerusalem and the scriptures are very clear about that in Revelation 11. The Bible says that they will be killed and they will be left laying in the streets for 3 and a half days in order to dishonor and make fun of them to vent the anger the antichrist and the entire world against them. So we don’t know where they’re from, but I’m sure that they can be from anywhere.

The two witnesses of Revelation will be two Christians from this time who have been anointed by the spirits of the prophets. Their end of days ministry will begin within less than 10 years at a nightclub located in the southeast United States on a full moon night in the fall time of the year. This is the real future. Everything that God has ever shown me comes to be. Everything!

  2. Hi Irvin,

Does it say anywhere in the Bible that the two witnesses can not be a husband and wife? When talking with a Jew who knows Hebrew, the word man in Hebrew is generic. For instance where it talks about the man clothed in linen in Ezekial 10, man is referring to a human being, man, husband, woman, wife according to the Hebrew translation. Is this section here possibly representing the two witnesses since the individual in the scripture of Ezekial 9, 10, 20, 21 does the same thing that the two witnesses do? For example in Ezekial 20:46. Are the two witnesses not only supposed to show the power of God to His glory, but also to bring people to repentance providing them one last chance before Christ returns?

      Hello Monica,
I think that is unlikely that any of us are the two witnesses. However, when they come on the scene we will give them full access to anything that Endtime has, the Magazine, the college, whatever they can use.

It seems that the widely belief is that the “two end-time Witnesses” will come from Israel. However, I am in complete agreement with Mr. Baxter, that we do not know where they will come from. The truth of the matter is that the Bible does not tell us.

The 11th Chapter of Revelation reveals God’s “Two end-time Witnesses.” Revelation 11:4 – “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the Earth.”

Lampstands hold lamps. Biblically speaking, a lamp can be a “symbol” for the Word of God. The “lamp” is more than a “symbol” for the Word of God. The “lamp” also “symbolizes” the Word of God being illuminated. A good example of this is found in Psalm 119:105 – “Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”

The “two lampstands” will be “two end-time witnesses” standing on Earth before God, holding the “lamp” which represents the Word of God.

The two “olive trees” contain olive oil which at times in the Scriptures is a “symbol” of anointing, and a “symbol” of the Holy Spirit of God.

The “two end-time witnesses” will be the “two lampstands” standing on Earth before God that will go forth holding the “lamp,” which represents the Word of God being illuminated by the anointing oil of the Holy Spirit. They will be anointed by God and filled with the Holy Spirit of God, which the “olive oil” represents. They will deliver the message of God’s Word from the anointing oil of the Holy Spirit with illuminating truth that has been so lacking since the days of the Early Church.

NOTE: Revelation 11:4 does not say that the “two lampstands” and the “two olive trees” are standing before God in Heaven. This is the reason why the verse says, “standing before the God of the Earth,” meaning that the “two lampstands” and the “two olive trees” are standing before God on Earth. If the “two lampstands” and the “two olive trees” were standing before God in Heaven, the verse would have read, “standing before the God of Heaven,” meaning that the “two lampstands” and the “two olive trees” were standing before God in Heaven.

When reading about the “two end-time witnesses” functioning in the same type of miracle working power that Moses and Elijah performed in their ministry, it can easily cause us to lose sight of the fact that the most important part of the ministry of the “two end-time witnesses” will be that of them going forth with the boldness of John the Baptist, proclaiming the illuminating truth of God’s Word.

The main purpose of the great miracle working power of the “two end-time witnesses” is to protect them. No one will be able to stop the ministry of the “two end-time witnesses” during their allotted time of 1,260 days given to them by the Lord. The Lord is going to end this Age with the illuminating truth of God’s Word going forth, which the enemy will be powerless to stop.

Many people believe that the “two end-time witnesses” will be Elijah and Enoch, or Elijah and Moses.

Enoch, Elijah and Moses in their day fulfilled God’s purposes for them. Throughout history there have been certain generations in which God has “raised up” certain individuals to carry out a specific task for Him. The same will be true for the generation that we are now living in. It is important to emphasize strongly the term “raised up.” We find throughout Scripture, that the Lord “raised up” His Prophets.

One very important fact is the fact that there is no place in the Bible that states that the “two end-time witnesses” are sent from Heaven. If that were the case, then it would have been clearly stated in the Bible.

Because of the “enormity” of the task that the Lord will assign to the “two end-time witnesses,” that just like Moses, the Lord will 1st take them through many years of a wilderness experience, which will be His method of development and training for them. The two “end-time Prophets” will not be newly converted Christians. They will be seasoned Prophets who have withstood the test of time.

The Lord is not going to transport someone from several thousand years ago to fulfill a particular task in this generation. The Lord will do what He has always done, which in this case will be to “raise up” someone from this generation to fulfill the role of the “two end-time witnesses” in this generation.

Please take special note that the emphasis is on being “raised up for this generation.”
The Bible clearly points out to us that the Lord delights in “raising up” people to fulfill a particular task that He has for them in their generation. Throughout the Bible, God shows us time and time again that He is in the “raising up” business.

In Matthew 3:9 Jesus told the Jewish people to not look back to Abraham, that God was able to “raise up” stones to fulfill His purposes.

There is zero doubt in my mind that they are alive at this present time of December, 2017. It is quite possible that at this present time of December, 2017, that they do not even know that the Lord has chosen them to be the “two end-time witnesses.”

As explained earlier in this article, the “enormity” of the task that the Lord will assign to the “two end-time witnesses” will require that they go through many years of a wilderness experience, which will be the Lord’s method of development and training for them.
It is my belief that at the time that the Lord reveals to them that they are the “two end-time witnesses,” that HE will not immediately thrust them into functioning in their role as the “two end-time witnesses.”

It is my belief that the Lord will likely reveal to them their role as the “two end-time witnesses” a few years in advance of being thrust into functioning in their role as the “two end-time witnesses.” This unveiling of their assignment from the Lord may be a step by step process of coming to an understanding that they have been chosen for their role as the “two end-time witnesses.”

It is my belief that the “two end-time witnesses” will need to know their role a few years in advance in order to fully come to terms that they have been chosen for such an “enormous” task from the Lord. Also, they will still need further development and training of a different sort from the Lord, before stepping into their role as the “two end-time witnesses.”

It is my belief that one of the “two end-time witnesses” will be a Jewish Prophet. And just as Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles, the other witness of the “two end-time witnesses” will be a Prophet of the Gentiles.

Even though the “two end-time witnesses” will both at the end of their ministry, lie dead in the streets of Jerusalem for 3 ½ days, it may very well be that they will work independently from one another during their ministry.

      Hello Amanda,

Great question. Yes the two witnesses will be able to lead others to the Lord. They will be Holy Ghost filled, true gospel preachers. There will be a great revival because they will be led by God. Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

They will be in Jerusalem when they are killed and the world will be watching when the Lord returns and calls them up.
