From the fear of “the bomb” in the early 1950s, to the global warming scare today that America is dying in a sea of pollution, “the end of the world” has concerned us since we were school children. Today, we continue to live in fear of nuclear annihilation, terrorism, epidemics, droughts, famine, tsunamis and earthquakes.
If there is a Creator-God, it is logical to think that He would want to communicate with the ones He created. As humans, we show kindness, justice, intelligence and other noble attributes. Since it is unlikely that a Creator would be inferior to that which he created, isn’t it likely that He would have similar or superior qualities? Wouldn’t you expect that such an intelligent Creator would want to communicate with His intelligent creature?
The Messiah was the “anointed one” or the coming “King of Israel”. We could also think of the Messiah as being the savior. Many believe to this day that the Messiah has not yet come and they are still in search of him. The only clues available about the coming Messiah are contained in the prophecies of the Old Testament. In order to understand who the Messiah is let’s look at the prophecies which describe and speak of Him.
Many people have heard the term “Kingdom of God,” but few really understand what it is. Throughout the entire Bible, this was the central message! John the Baptist preached the Kingdom of God, Jesus preached it, and the apostles preached it. The last question that Jesus was asked before He left the earth was, “Lord, will you at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” The coming Kingdom of God is the message that God wants to convey to every person on earth. The crucial question is, will you be a part of it?
