US intends to brief Israel on progress in Iran nuclear talks

American diplomats currently in Vienna for nuclear talks with Iran have tried to connect with their Israeli counterparts three times over the last several days, a senior administration official told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday evening.

Arriving in Austria’s capital nearly two weeks ago, members of the team then told the Post that Wendy Sherman, Washington’s chief negotiator, had briefed Israel’s National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen shortly after her arrival.

“We tried to schedule another contact and we couldn’t get schedules to connect,” the official said. “We tried like, three times.”

US delegates have been in intensive, round-the-clock meetings with their partners from Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany, as well as their Iranian counterparts, ever since arriving in Vienna on June 27.
