Jews return to the Temple Mount

The first group of Jews ascended the Temple Mount Sunday, 70 days after the holy site was closed to Jewish visitors due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The mount was opened to Jews at the same time as most of the restrictions on Muslims entering and praying in the area were lifted this morning.

Hundreds of Muslim worshipers had already arrived this morning at the Al-Aqsa Mosque after two and a half months in which the Temple Mount’s gates were closed.

During the last 70 days, only a few dozen Muslim Waqf workers were allowed to enter the Temple Mount and pray there.
