Elkin: The united Jerusalem has become divided

Jerusalem Minister Ze’ev Elkin spoke at the Knesset plenum in honor of Jerusalem Day.

 

“The united Jerusalem was for years within the political consensus. We all remember the words of the left-wing leader, Yitzhak Rabin, about a whole and united Jerusalem that would never be a topic for negotiation. The question is to what degree does the Labor party stand behind those statements today.”

 

“Recently, to my dismay, this consensus has broke and the united Jerusalem has become divided and a source of conflict. We hear statements indicating that in order to strengthen Jerusalem we must divide it, but the truth is that the public does not want to see Jerusalem divided.”
