DC officials conduct terror drill amid North Korea standoff

According to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, law enforcement officials, first responders, and city officials will participate in a “full-scale exercise” on April 26th designed to prepare for a complex coordinated terror attack on the capital.

The statement explains that the exercise was planned by emergency mangers at the  Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) to help protect residents by preparing for an attack which could involve multiple target locations and numerous teams of perpetrators.

Noted in the COG statement was a mention that volunteer actors were among the hundreds of police, fire, and emergency medical service personnel included in the drill, which is set to span across six different locations in the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Residents in the effected neighborhoods of the northeast and southeast quadrants of the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County, and Arlington and Fairfax Counties have allegedly been notified ahead of the drill to limit confusion and misreporting.
