The US to Remain Strongest Military Power

President Trump just signed a spending bill containing many things he opposed. However, he explained he signed the bill because it contains $700 billion for the US military. Why does President Trump feel so urgent about the huge increase in military spending? Is it the increased tensions with Russia? Perhaps it is the $50 billion in new tariffs he has just placed on China.
