Religious Jews believe Israel cannot build its Third Temple without the ashes of a qualified red heifer. Israel has not possessed a qualified red heifer for 2,000 years, but now, the rabbis think they have one. They recently did a practice offering of a cow to see if enough ashes would be produced to purify the entire nation of Israel from contact with a dead body.
