End of the Age News

President Obama is going to Europe

US president Barack Obama is set out for a week-long trip to Europe in the later part of March.  Starting on the 24th, President Obama is set to be part of a nuclear security summit hosted by the Dutch government in the Netherlands.

A couple days later he will head to Brussels where a US – European Union Summit will be taking place.  The president will then make his way to Italy to meet a special guest, Time’s man of the year.

President Obama is scheduled to meet with Pope Francis on March 27.  The White House reported President Obama looks forward to discussing with Pope Francis their shared commitment to fighting poverty and growing inequality.

These may in fact be the intentions of the president of the United States but with many other issues on the table, it’s probable the two will discuss other issues, such as John Kerry’s endeavors to obtain Middle East peace by April.

However, maybe President Obama simply wants to make friends with the Pontiff seeing he and his family were formerly acquainted with Pope Benedict XVI.

Israel Threatens Hammas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is getting fed up with the actions of Hamas.  Prime Minister Netanyahu has issued a threat to Hamas and claims he will be teaching them a lesson.

Recently there has been a surge in militant rocket attacks on the Jewish state from the ruling Hamas movement in Gaza.  Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister and one who appears to care about the well-being of his people and nation, is ready to respond to this.

He was quoted saying, “We foil terrorist attacks when we identify that they are in the making and we respond against those who attack us.”  He added, “If Hamas and the other terror organizations forgot this lesson, they will learn it again the hard way and very soon.”

The Middle East has been in a constant uproar over the years and conditions really have not improved.  With these conflicts and peace currently in process, the world is left wondering if peace will be achieved or if war will break out.

Israel worried about Kerry’s obsession

Dealing with the peace process, Israeli officials are worried by John Kerry’s apparent obsession with trying to achieve peace in the Middle East.  The officials are showing increasing impatience with his determination to push forward an enterprise that they believe is doomed to failure.

Israeli negotiators have flown to Washington to discuss the framework agreement presented by Kerry which would allow talks to continue but the Energy Minister Silvan Shalom warned imposing a document like this on Israel would not be good for the negotiations.

Israel’s defense minister was speaking about Secretary of State John Kerry and he had an, “incomprehensible obsession and a messianic sense” and that “the only thing that can save us is that he will win the Nobel Prize and leave us alone.”

It is being said people do not understand why John Kerry is being so extreme and obsessive in his pursuit of peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians especially with conditions the way they are.  Ultimately, we will see if Kerry’s obsession meets Kerry’s goal in about two months.

As always it’s been a pleasure updating you on the events taking place in our world today.
