Does the Bible Say When the Final Seven Years will Start?

By Irvin Baxter

Question: Sheila from Michigan called to ask Irvin, “Does the Bible say when the Final Seven Years will start? If so, where?”

Answer: Yes, the Bible does mention when the Final Seven Years would start. It is mentioned in Daniel 9:27. The entire prophecy goes from verse 24 to verse 27. It’s called the Prophecy of Daniel’s 70 weeks. It’s not an easy prophecy to understand. We have a DVD in our UTB Series that addresses this prophecy. Verse27 talks about the Antichrist confirming the covenant (speaking of the Abrahamic covenant) with many Desolation and Jesus said when you see the Abomination of Desolation then will be great tribulation. The thing that starts the seven years is a peace agreement with Israel and the Palestinians.

      Hello Connie,
The Bible doesn’t say that the peace agreement will be between the Palestinians and Israel. What it says is this; Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

This covenant is the Abrahamic Covenant from Genesis 15:18, God promised the land of Israel to Abraham. This is the covenant that will establish the final boarders of Israel. The way we know that it will be an agreement with the Palestinians, they are the ones that want to lay claim to Israel and more especially Jerusalem. We know that in the past one of the things mentioned in other fail attempts at peace. The Palestinians want their own State. This is one of the things we have heard talked about, giving the Palestinians, the West Bank, which will include Judea/Samaria. The Palestinians have agreed, that any of the Jewish Settlers in Judea, will be allowed to stay under Palestinian authority. Jesus tells those living in Judea at the time the Antichrist is revealed and causes the Abomination of Desolation, to run for their lives. (Matthew 24:15-21) The Bible also tells us that in the end time, the Jews will be in a sharing arrangement on the Temple Mount, they will have a Jewish temple and start animal sacrifices there. This is found in (Revelation 11:1-2).

Like I said, the Bible doesn’t specifically say the Palestinians, the bottom line is it will be a covenant with many. Meaning, many people will be involved in the process. But, ultimately it will involve Israel and the Palestinians.

      Hello Connie,

2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 speaks of an entity that holds back the revealing of the Antichrist. Some people teach that the thing that “now letteth (restraineth)” is the presence of the Holy Spirit in the world. There is nothing in this passage that supports such an interpretation. The clue to the correct identity of this entity appears to be found in verse 6, “that he might be revealed in his time.” The thing that restrains the revealing of the Antichrist is God’s very own timeline. Just as Jesus, the true Christ, was not revealed until “the fullness of time was come” (Galatians 4:4), the false Christ, the man of sin, will not be revealed until God’s timeline dictates it.
