World War III: Ominously Close, Inevitable

How close are we?

“Extremely Fragile” Nuclear Global Order

Widespread nuclear conflict could erupt at any moment in any of several regions of the world. The United States has aligned with members of the European Union to impose punitive sanctions against Russia for Russia’s seizure of Crimea and her support for insurgents in Ukraine. NATO has approved a rapid reaction force comprised of “several thousand troops”, that can be deployed within a “very few days”, to meet any new threats. As the Cold War returns, the Russian Bear is awakening, restored and revitalized, with the largest military buildup since the collapse of the Soviet Union. China’s Communist Party presides over the world’s largest military build-up, her archenemy, Japan, flexes her military muscle, and Saudi Arabia has purchased nuclear missiles from China.

The Middle East boils with unrest as the Islamic State continues its bloody quest to capture population centers up and down the Euphrates River on both sides of the Syria-Iraq border. President Obama has pledged to send U.S. troops if the Islamic State acquires nuclear weapons. Iran is negotiating as a nuclear power as Israelis debate the merits of a preemptive nuclear strike. According to Graham Allison, Director of Harvard’s Center for Science and International Affairs, “The current global nuclear order is extremely fragile.”

The First Counter Attack of World War III

On September 11, 2001, the passengers and crew of Flight 93 rushed the cockpit in an attempt to overpower the hijackers. The airliner crashed in southwestern Pennsylvania before it was able to strike its intended target, the White House. President George Bush declared afterward in a television interview, that what happened on Flight 93 was “the first counter attack of World War III.”

History may or may not agree with President Bush that the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers were the beginning of the third world war. Nevertheless, many dignitaries and world leaders have recently observed the spread of global hostilities and have concluded that World War III is just ahead.

Gorbachev: Ukraine Crisis could Transform into World War III

In an interview with a German magazine in October 2014, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev warned that the crisis in Ukraine could lead to a major war, possibly even a nuclear war. “This is not something I’m saying thoughtlessly,” he said, “I am extremely concerned.”

IDF Defense Chief Gantz: Failed Iran Negotiations “Will Lead to War”

Outgoing Chief of General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz has said he believes if negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program fail, “It will lead to war.”

Noam Chomsky: World Ominously Close to Nuclear War

According to cognitive scientist and political activist scholar Noam Chomsky, nuclear war has “come ominously close several times in the past, dramatically close.” He believes that it could happen again, “just by the accidental interactions that take place.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping: “Prepare for War”

China’s neighbors have been alarmed over the past few months that Chinese leader Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party have repeatedly urged the People’s Liberation Army to “be ready to win a war.” Analysts have speculated that China may be pushing their military readiness level to be on par with the Pentagon.

Former Ambassador Yuri Shcherbak: Ukraine War a Prelude to WWIII

Yuri Shcherbak, Ukraine’s Ambassador in Washington from 1994 to 1998, has ominously commented on the U.S.-Russian conflict in the Ukraine. “This is a prelude to World War III,” he said, “A lot of people know this.”

Russian President Putin: “Global War Almost Inevitable”

In a video transmitted from the Valdai International Discussion Club’s XI session in Sochi on October 24, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, “…Russia does not wish for the chaos to spread, does not want war, and has no intention of starting one. However, today Russia sees the outbreak of global war as almost inevitable, is prepared for it and is continuing to prepare for it. Russia does not [want] war, nor does she fear it…”

America on a “Hot War Footing”

A World War III Scenario has been on the drawing board of the Pentagon for over ten years. In December 2014, Russian media warned that House Resolution 758 could lead to “all-out” war. The resolution called for President Obama to “provide the Government of Ukraine with lethal and non-lethal defense articles…” Ron Paul said that it was “reckless” for Congress to pass such a resolution because it essentially declared war on Russia.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II: War against ISIS is WWIII

Jordan’s King Abdullah II has characterized the fight against the Islamic State as being similar to a third world war. “It’s clearly a fight between good and evil,” he said.

Surprised by the Rise of Islamic State

In September 2014 the White House Press Secretary noted that everyone was surprised about the rapid rise of the brutal and extremist Islamic State in Iraq. Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS and ISIL) claims to have fighters from across the world, and has forced many minority communities from their homes. It has established a de facto caliphate and controls a vast territory, which extends across Syria and Iraq.

The Fight Against Radical Islam

Prime Minister Manuel Valls of France declared in January 2015 that France was at war with radical Islam. His comments came in the aftermath of agonizing sieges that had led to the deaths of three gunmen and four hostages. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said that the U.S. is “at war with terrorists” who commit “heinous acts,” but refused to say that the U.S. is at war with radical Islam. Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton has warned that the Obama administration must recognize that the West is “at war” with groups like the Islamic State and that it is “inevitable” that U.S. ground forces will be needed to stop such brutal Islamic movements.

Islam’s Goal: Destroy Western Civilization

Islamic terrorists have declared all-out war against the West, especially against Christians and Jews. In a very real sense, World War III has already begun, since the clash between radical Islam and the West has already involved almost every nation on earth. Extremist Islamic teaching calls for war to the death against all non-Muslims. It is apparent to many that Jihad has as its primary goal the Islamic domination of the entire world. Muslim scholar Bassam Tibi has written that Islam teaches that global peace can be “reached only with the conversion or submission of all mankind to Islam.” Pope Francis expressed the opinion in January 2015 that the kind of Islamic fundamentalism that provoked the Paris massacres is a “deviant form of religion” that uses God as a pretext to carry out mass killings.

Sixth Trumpet Euphrates River War, “Sheer Madness”

Revelation 9:13-21 concerns the Sixth Trumpet of end time prophecy and describes the slaying of a third of mankind after four angels are released from the area of the Euphrates River. The Euphrates River is located in Iraq, Turkey, Syria, and Iran. The entire region, including Lebanon, Israel and Pakistan, has been impacted by the “war on terror.” A war that kills a third of mankind, over two billion people, will obviously be a world war, making it World War III. Iran continues to threaten nuclear aggression and has been linked historically to armaments from Russian, China and Pakistan. Iran has also continued to propose a “sunset clause” in nuclear negotiations, which guarantees Iran a path into military nuclear capability.

If Israel is forced into a nuclear corner, Israel may feel compelled to act alone to prevent annihilation. In 2013, Iran’s Ambassador to France, Ali Ahani warned that an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities could lead to global war. “Iran will not stand by in the face of such aggression,” he said. “This can entail a chain of violence that may lead to World War III. A potential Israeli attack against Iran with an objective of destroying its scientific and nuclear facilities is sheer madness. Its consequences are disastrous and uncontrollable.”

Russia has repeatedly maintained that no country will ever attain military superiority over Russia. As the war drums are beating, some Washington policymakers sincerely believe that nuclear war is winnable and that nuclear war is a means of preventing the rise of Russia and China as world powers.

Will Common Sense Prevail?

We live in a time in which nuclear war between the great powers is commonly viewed as unlikely. The outcome, we assume, would be so devastating that each side must be doing their utmost to avoid it. Surely, we think, our governments will be rational since a nuclear war would be insane. However, common sense will not prevail. World War III will happen. It is in your Bible. It appears that the present war in the area of the Euphrates River is the Euphrates River War of Revelation 9:13-21. If this is true, then we know that over two billion people will die before this war reaches its climax.
