The Rapture

The majority of the Evangelical Movement has taught of a pretribulation rapture; however, you cannot read Matthew 24 carefully without concluding that Jesus Christ placed the rapture immediately after the tribulation of those days. If this is not true, you would have to believe that there are two raptures.

What is the Rapture?

By Irvin Baxter

Matthew 24:29-31. It says,

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign ofthe Son of man in heaven:and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his electfrom the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The majority of the Evangelical Movement has taught of a pretribulation rapture; however, you cannot read Matthew 24 carefully without concluding that Jesus Christ placed the rapture immediately after the tribulation of those days. If this is not true, you would have to believe that there are two raptures. Although it is not a salvation issue, to believe that violates the Bible’s teaching on this subject. God can come for any one of us at any time. The Bible says in Matthew 24:42, “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Be ye also ready, for in such an hour as you think not, your Lord doth come.”   For more information on this topic and the rest of the seals, get our Revelation Commentary Manual.   Related Topics
